Payneham Vet Centre
South Australia

Payneham Veterinary Centre boasts a dedicated team of veterinarians and fully qualified nurses, ready to care for you and your pets.

Originally founded by Dr. Roberta Reid and known as Avenue Road Vet Clinic, this pioneering practice was the first purpose-built veterinary clinic in South Australia, situated at 50 Avenue Road, Glynde. Dr. Reid catered to both small and large animals, welcoming clients who often brought their horses to the side door, where they were always greeted by her beloved Great Danes.

The practice was later entrusted to Dr. Van Gynn, who faithfully served the community from the same location for many years. Following his tenure, Dr. Melville Smith briefly took over the reins.

Dr. Kylie Jopson joined the team on May 18, 1998. “I remember my first client, a beautiful Golden Retriever named Chelsea, owned by the very dignified Mrs. Philips. We became great friends, and I was her vet for many years,” she recalls.

In December 2001, Kylie became a part-owner of the clinic alongside Dr. John Carruthers. They relocated the practice to 65 Portrush Road, Payneham, and renamed it Payneham Veterinary Centre.

In December 2019, Kylie and John moved the Payneham Veterinary Centre to its current, state-of-the-art location, continuing their legacy of exceptional veterinary care.
