My training approach is rooted in compassion for both animals and their owners. There’s no place for criticism when it comes to learning; instead, I focus on guiding you to understand your dog or cat’s needs while helping your pet develop the skills necessary to thrive in your family. The ultimate aim is for you and your pet to lead enriched, joyful lives together.
To achieve meaningful behavioural change, my training emphasises three key areas: management, relationships, and training:
Management: My goal is to set your pet up for success through both short- and long-term strategies, such as utilising crates, gates, exercise routines, and regular vet visits. These tools help prevent behavioural issues from arising.
Relationship: I believe the bond between pet and owner should be a partnership, not one of dominance. Imagine your relationship as a dance, where you provide clear guidance to your dog or cat, avoiding confusion and reducing stress.
Training: I utilise positive reinforcement techniques because research consistently shows this method as the most effective for teaching desired behaviours and new skills. By rewarding good behaviour and redirecting or preventing undesirable actions, we create a learning environment where your pet knows what you want them to do. We’ll use whatever motivates your pet—whether it’s food, toys, attention, or affection—to reinforce good behaviour. This way, everyone benefits.
I do not advocate for the use of choke chains, electric collars, or any equipment designed to correct through failure. Instead, my focus is on positive, science-based methods that foster a healthy, trusting relationship between you and your pet.
