Lakeside Dog Park – Completed December 2020
Dog parks are a great, free resource that every community should have. Not only do they provide a safe and secure space for our four legged friends to exercise, but they also play a huge role in our own socialisation, mental health and physical exercise.

There are over 8000 dogs registered in Darwin and only 1 fenced space for them to exercise. We get a lot of community requests for more dog parks in Darwin and we’re pleased to be delivering one in partnership with the Northern Territory Government.

Exercising and socialising dogs is one of the best ways to keep dogs happy and reduce nuisance barking and nuisance behaviour, which is often a key concern in the Darwin community. There are a lot of off the leash areas around the municipality but being off the leash doesn’t work for a lot of pooches. The new dog park provides a dedicated space to exercise dogs and is another step towards Council’s goal of ensuring dogs and their owners and neighbours live together in safety and harmony in the Darwin community.

The project is being jointly funded by NT Government and City of Darwin as part of the $2M Joint Community Projects.
