The South Australian Humane Animal Rescue Association (SAHARA) is a passionate, registered not-for-profit organisation with a strict no-kill policy. That means we never resort to euthanasia due to space limitations, high medical expenses, or any other unnecessary reasons. At SAHARA, we believe every animal deserves a chance, especially those who are ill, injured, seniors, or on Death Row—often overlooked by others. We know that at the heart of every stray lies a simple wish: to be loved.

Our Process

When an animal arrives in our care, we carefully evaluate its health and behaviour to determine the best placement within our foster care network, tailored to the animal’s specific needs.

When they’re ready for a forever home, we share their profiles on our website and Facebook page and start the adoption process. We take this process seriously; it may take some time, but it’s designed to ensure our animals never face abandonment or displacement again.
